BACKGROUND:

 

The Goodwill Games planned in the summer of 1990 will bring in thousands of sports spectators and many athletes from all over the world.  The participants in the Goodwill Games will be staying in the state of Washington for approximately two to three-weeks.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Legislature finds that the Goodwill Games are an international event with the potential to improve relations between nations.

 

The Director of the Department of Fisheries and the Director of the Department of Wildlife will grant salmon and personal use fishing privileges to athletes who are participating in the 1990 Goodwill Games.  The complimentary fishing will be allowed from July 15, 1990, which precedes the Games, through August 15, 1990, which follows the end of the Games.
