BACKGROUND:

 

Marriages between persons who are nearer of kin than second cousins is prohibited.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Marriage between first cousins is permitted if the woman is at least 55 years of age or if either party submits an affidavit from a physician stating that he or she is sterile.
