BACKGROUND:

Since 1975, winter recreation enthusiasts have helped the State Parks and Recreation Commission develop policies and administrative procedures for their winter recreation program.  This group of recreation enthusiasts comprise the Winter Recreation Advisory Committee.  That committee is scheduled to terminate on June 30, 1991 by statutory authority.

The State Parks and Recreation Commission manages the Sno-Park program which provides facilities and services to winter recreationists such as cross country skiers, snowmobile users, or snowshoers.  Permits are issued for parking in such facilities.

SUMMARY:

The Winter Recreation Committee will continue to exist to the year 2001.

The permit system for parking in designated winter recreational parking spaces, is designed to adapt to different time lengths for parking.  The snowmobile user is required to have an annual parking permit.  No fee for the snowmobile permit is charged.
