BACKGROUND:

 

Since 1976 the Liquor Control Board has been issuing licenses to sell beer and wine to stores that also sell gasoline.  The class E and F licenses allows a retailer to sell beer and wine for off-premise consumption.

 

The Liquor Control Board estimates that there are approximately 1,777 E and F licenses issued to retailers that sell gasoline.

 

SUMMARY:

 

A motor fuel retailer may not sell alcoholic beverages.

 

The Liquor Control Board is directed not to issue a liquor license to anyone who sells gasoline.
