BACKGROUND:

 

Current law states that no person engaged in the business of insurance shall engage in unfair methods of competition or in unfair or deceptive acts or practices in conducting their business.

 

SUMMARY:

 

A new section is added to the Insurance Code which states that it is not an unfair and deceptive act or practice for title insurers and their agents to provide certain information, reproducible from the public record, to real estate agents and brokers.
