BACKGROUND:

 

Our national energy usage draws heavily on energy imports from overseas and carbon-based fossil fuels that contribute to acid rain and the climatic "greenhouse effect."  The United States possesses abundant domestic energy resources and technology that have the potential to reduce reliance on imports and improve environmental quality.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The President and Congress are asked to develop a comprehensive national energy policy to best promote and encourage development of domestic clean energy supplies and increased energy efficiency.
