BACKGROUND:

 

Tidelands and shorelands can be leased for a maximum of 55 years.  Docks, wharves and other structures built upon them can be leased for up to 30 years.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Legislature is to call for public vote to amend the Washington State Constitution, Article XV, Section 2.  The amendment changes the length of time harbor docks and wharves can be leased from 30 to 55 years.

 

The ballot title will read "Shall the state Constitution be amended to make the limit on harbor leases consistent with other leases?"
