BACKGROUND:
Different methods of determining salaries are used in separate segments of state government. This is believed to create conflicts and confusion regarding the state's compensation policy. The comparable worth agreement is to expire in 1993.
SUMMARY:
A Joint Select Committee on Employee Compensation is to be established consisting of 12 members appointed by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The joint committee is to study salary setting practices for higher education, K-12, and state employees and establish comprehensive policies governing all employees. Recommendations to the Legislature are to be made by December 30, 1990.
