AN ACT Relating to the importance of apples in the state of Washington; adding a new section to chapter 1.20 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 46.16 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 1.20 RCW to read as follows:

          The apple is hereby designated as the official fruit of the state of Washington.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 46.16 RCW to read as follows:

          In order to publicize and commemorate the apple as the official fruit of the state of Washington, vehicle license number plates issued by the state of Washington commencing with the next general issuance of such plates after the Washington state centennial year of 1989 shall be designed by the department to prominently display a depiction of an apple.
