AN ACT Relating to county zoning; and adding a new section to chapter 36.32 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 36.32 RCW to read as follows:

          Whenever a county legislative authority adopts a comprehensive plan or zoning controls under chapter 35.63 or 36.70 RCW, or a county charter, that establishes more stringent standards on shorelines, as defined under RCW 90.58.030, than are contained in the county's master program adopted under RCW 90.58.090, the county legislative authority shall submit a copy of that portion of its comprehensive plan or zoning controls to the department of ecology.  The department of ecology shall review this portion of the comprehensive plan or zoning controls, and may provide advisory comments to the county legislative authority on the extent to which these more stringent standards are not consistent with the policy of RCW 90.58.020 and the applicable guidelines.
