AN ACT Relating to information required by the department of labor and industries for health care contracts; adding a new section to chapter 51.36 RCW; and making an appropriation.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 51.36 RCW to read as follows:

          To ensure that good quality health care is obtained for workers the department may contract for health care services and equipment.  During the contracting process the department may require the disclosure of financial or valuable trade information in order to assure the health and safety of workers.  Upon written request from contractors, the department may hold such information confidential and exempt from public inspection and copying under RCW 42.17.260.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.     The sum of three hundred thousand dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated from the medical aid fund to the department of labor and industries for the biennium ending June 30, 1991, to carry out the purposes of this act.
