AN ACT Relating to teacher abuse; amending RCW 28A.87.010; and prescribing penalties.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

        Sec. 1.  Section 28A.87.010, chapter 223, Laws of 1969 ex. sess. as last amended by section 314, chapter 258, Laws of 1984 and RCW 28A.87.010 are each amended to read as follows:

          (1) Any person who shall ((insult or abuse)) use language that tends to incite an immediate breach of peace against a ((teacher anywhere on the school premises while such teacher is carrying out his official duties)) school employee when the school employee is carrying out assigned duties at a school event or on school property, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor((,)).

          (2) The penalty for ((which)) violating this section  shall be a fine of not less than ten dollars nor more than one hundred dollars.
