AN ACT Relating to fees charged for connecting customers for electrical services; adding a new section to chapter 35.92 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 54.16 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 80.28 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 35.92 RCW to read as follows:

          Cities or towns which distribute electricity are authorized to charge a fee for connecting customers for electrical service.  A variable connection charge, relating to the energy efficiency of the customer's facilities, and with higher charges applicable to less efficient facilities, is authorized.  This section shall not conflict with RCW 35.92.380.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 54.16 RCW to read as follows:

          A district which distributes electricity is authorized to charge a fee for connecting customers for electrical service.  A variable connection charge, relating to the energy efficiency of the customer's facilities, and with higher charges applicable to less efficient facilities, is authorized.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.  A new section is added to chapter 80.28 RCW to read as follows:

          An electrical company is authorized to charge a fee for connecting customers for electrical service.  A variable connection charge, relating to the energy efficiency of the customer's facilities, and with higher charges applicable to less efficient facilities, is authorized.  This section is consistent with and not in conflict with RCW 80.28.080.
