AN ACT Relating to dental benefits for retired police officers and fire fighters; and adding a new section to chapter 41.26 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 41.26 RCW to read as follows:

          (1)  The retirement system shall make membership in a group dental plan available to any retired law enforcement officer or fire fighter who is a member.  The retirement system shall solicit bids from dental insurance providers and select the plan that it deems most advantageous for its members.

          (2)  If the member is receiving a monthly benefit check, the retirement system shall deduct the dental insurance premium from that check and forward the premium to the dental insurance provider.  If the member has received a lump sum benefit payment, then the member will be responsible for payment of the dental insurance premiums.
