AN ACT Relating to tuition and fees waivers for students participating in intercollegiate athletics; and adding a new section to chapter 28B.15 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 28B.15 RCW to read as follows:

          The boards of regents of the state universities and the boards of trustees of the regional universities, The Evergreen State College, and the community colleges may waive tuition and services and activities fees for students participating in intercollegiate athletic programs under the following conditions:

          (1) No new course sections shall be created as a direct result of students receiving the waivers;

          (2) Enrollment information on students receiving the waivers shall be maintained separately from other enrollment information and shall not be considered in any enrollment statistics which would affect budgetary determinations; and

          (3) Each institutional governing board using this waiver authority shall adopt guidelines for the implementation of the waivers granted under this section.
