AN ACT Relating to roadway jurisdiction; amending RCW 47.26.160; and adding a new section to chapter 47.26 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 47.26 RCW to read as follows:

          In addition to the duties and responsibilities contained in RCW 47.26.160, the transportation improvement board is hereby directed to carry out the following activities as recommended by the road jurisdiction committee in its final report to the Washington state legislature dated February __, 1989:

          (1) Commencing August 1, 1990, and yearly thereafter, recommend additions and deletions to the state highway system and the fiscal impact of the recommendations, to the legislative transportation committee based upon the criteria contained in chapter ___, Laws of 1989 (HB 1724);

          (2) Monitor, on an on-going basis, the needs for improvements on state, county, and city roadway systems and the revenue available to meet those needs; and

          (3) Periodically update the roadway condition and financing data base, the needs model, and the revenue model developed during the course of the road jurisdiction study, phase I.
