AN ACT Relating to household goods mover advertisements; adding new sections to chapter 81.80 RCW; and prescribing penalties.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. (1) The alphabetized listing of household movers appearing in the advertising section of telephone books or other directories and all advertising, including by airwave transmission, which shows or announces an intrastate household transporter or mover's name or address shall show or announce the intrastate household mover's current permit number as issued by the Washington utilities and transportation commission.
(2) A transporter of household goods shall not falsify a permit number and use it in connection with any solicitation or identification as an intrastate household goods mover. Any person who is found to be in violation of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punishable as such.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. When determining a violation of section 1 of this act, the person who purchased the advertising shall be held potentially liable.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 3. Sections 1 and 2 of this act are each added to chapter 81.80 RCW.
