AN ACT Relating to use of school facilities; and adding a new section to Title 28A RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to Title 28A RCW to read as follows:

          (1) School districts may enter into contracts with city, county, and community programs for the use of school district facilities for educational, recreational, or child care programs during the months that school is not in session or while the district is offering summer programs.

          (2) The school district may provide the building free of charge for the first year of use by a particular entity.  By the second year, the program shall be self-sustaining with the community use program covering only the costs of utilities, maintenance, and insurance for its period of use.
