AN ACT Relating to reporting of continuing education units; and adding a new section to Title 28A RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to Title 28A RCW to read as follows:

          (1) Individuals who fraudulently report the number or completion of continuing education units as required in RCW 28A.71.110 shall have the number of fraudulently reported credits deducted from their total credits earned for placement on the salary allocation schedule.  The individual shall be required to reimburse the school district the amount of salary acquired through the date of discovery by the fraudulent reporting of the continuing education credits, plus interest.  A second violation of this section shall result in the revocation of the individual's certification for a maximum period of one year and repayment of the salary that was fraudulently obtained, plus interest.

          (2) Fraudulent reporting of credits includes, but is not limited to, reporting two or more classes with the same content, reporting a class as approved when it is not, reporting a class as upper division course work when it is not, or reporting a single class under different numbers from different colleges when several colleges are offering credit for the same course.
