AN ACT Relating to entrance requirements for undergraduate programs at institutions of higher education; and amending 28B.10.050.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
Sec. 1. Section 28B.10.050, chapter 223, Laws of 1969 ex. sess. as last amended by section 91, chapter 370, Laws of 1985 and RCW 28B.10.050 are each amended to read as follows:
(1) Except as the legislature shall otherwise specifically direct, the boards of regents and the boards of trustees for the state universities, the regional universities, and The Evergreen State College may establish entrance requirements for their respective institutions of higher education which meet or exceed the minimum entrance requirements established under RCW 28B.80.350(2). (2) An institution of higher education shall give priority for admission to undergraduate programs to applicants who meet the minimum entrance requirements established by the institution and who qualify as resident students under RCW 28B.15.012(2). However, up to ten percent of an institution's undergraduate enrollment is not subject to this requirement.
