AN ACT Relating to outcomes-based education; and making an appropriation.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.     The sum of nine hundred fifty thousand dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for the biennium ending June 30, 1991, from the general fund to the superintendent of public instruction, to be distributed to school districts for schools intending to participate in outcomes-driven restructuring of educational programs.  The superintendent of public instruction shall consult with the Washington state network for outcome-driven education in determining eligibility criteria and grant awards.  The superintendent shall notify school districts of grant awards before August 1, 1990.  The minimum grant shall be fifty thousand dollars per participating school.  Grants provided under this section may be used for planning, development, and implementation costs of restructuring school programs in a manner targeted to increases in student outcomes.
