AN ACT Relating to suicide prevention; adding a new section to chapter 19, Laws of 1989 1st ex. sess. (uncodified); making an appropriation; and declaring an emergency.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 19, Laws of 1989 1st ex. sess. (uncodified) to read as follows:

          !tp1FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT‑-YOUTH SUICIDE PREVENTION CENTER OF BOTHELL, NORTHSHORE TOGETHER!! TEAM FOR COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION AGAINST SUBSTANCE ABUSE, AND NORTHSHORE YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES

          The appropriation in this section is subject to the following conditions and limitations:

          (1) $70,000 of the general fund‑-state appropriation is provided solely for the youth suicide prevention center of Bothell for youth-focused suicide prevention education and other services.

          (2) $15,000 of the general fund‑-state appropriation is provided solely for northshore together!! team for community mobilization against substance abuse to provide a coordinator to enhance the natural helper program in area high schools for peer support for suicide prevention.

          (3) $15,000 of the general fund‑-state appropriation is provided solely for northshore youth and family services to teach school-based self esteem and anger management skills in targeted elementary schools with a complementary parenting skills component.

 

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.     This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
