State of Washington 51st Legislature 1989 First Special Session

WHEREAS, The State of Washington employs numerous forms of taxation to raise necessary revenue; and
WHEREAS, These taxes are subject to many exemptions that cause the loss of revenue;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring, That a joint subcommittee be formed to study all exemptions for all taxes utilized by the State of Washington; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this subcommittee be comprised of members of the House of Representatives Revenue Committee and the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, with the membership to be determined by the chairpersons of those committees and with staff to be provided by those committees; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the subcommittee will study ways to streamline and eliminate tax exemptions for all taxes; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the subcommittee will report its progress and findings to the legislature at each legislative session and will complete the study within two years of the creation of the subcommittee.
