TO THE HONORABLE CECIL ANDRUS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF IDAHO, AND TO THE HONORABLE NEIL GOLDSCHMIDT, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF OREGON, AND TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLIES OF THE STATES OF IDAHO AND OREGON:
We, the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Washington, in legislative session assembled, respectfully represent and petition as follows:
WHEREAS, International trade activities, including tourism, investment, and commerce, are essential to the healthy economic condition of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho; and
WHEREAS, Cooperation and joint efforts between states can be mutually beneficial; and
WHEREAS, The Washington State Legislature has proposed an interstate compact on international trade;
NOW, THEREFORE, Your Memorialists respectfully pray that the Legislatures of Oregon and Idaho join with the Legislature of Washington in approving an interstate compact on international trade and that representatives of Oregon and Idaho meet with representatives of Washington to consider issues of mutual interest and to agree upon cooperation and joint efforts in the area of international trade.
BE IT RESOLVED, That copies of this Memorial, along with copies of the proposed interstate compact on international trade, be immediately transmitted to the Honorable Cecil Andrus, Governor of the State of Idaho, and to the Honorable Neil Goldschmidt, Governor of the state of Oregon, and to the Legislative Assemblies of the States of Idaho and Oregon.
