AN ACT Relating to purveyors of public water systems; and adding a new section to chapter 70.116 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 70.116 RCW to read as follows:

          A purveyor may not impose more stringent requirements for fire flow and the placement of fire hydrants than those required by the appropriate local governmental agency, unless the requirements of the local government are less than the minimum performance standards established by the secretary under RCW 70.116.080.

          A purveyor may accept a water system or portions of a water system that was voluntarily built to specifications that exceed the local government's performance standards.
