AN ACT Relating to first aid instruction for school district employees; and adding new sections to chapter 28A.58 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.     In order to provide for the improvement of the health and welfare of both students and employees of the public schools and to prepare for health emergencies, each school district shall assure that all district employees have an opportunity once a year to receive training in first aid and accident prevention including instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.     The superintendent of public instruction, the educational service districts, and local school districts are encouraged to contract with local red cross offices to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes for all district employees.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 3.     Sections 1 and 2 of this act are each added to chapter 28A.58 RCW.
