AN ACT Relating to telecommunications service provided by public utility districts; and adding a new section to chapter 54.16 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 54.16 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) A district may be established under this title for purposes of providing telecommunications service, as "telecommunications" is defined in RCW 80.04.010, to the district and its inhabitants, including public and private corporations within and without its limits.

          (2) A district providing telecommunications service shall not provide other utility services under this title.
