AN ACT Relating to school bus safety standards; and adding a new section to chapter 28A.24 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 28A.24 RCW to read as follows:

          All school buses regularly operated by a school district must comply with:

          (1) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 105 "Hydraulic brake system";

          (2) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111 "Rearview mirrors";

          (3) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 217 "Bus window retention and release";

          (4) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 220 "School bus rollover protection";

          (5) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 221 "School bus body joint strength";

          (6) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 222 "School bus passenger seating and crash protection";

          (7) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 301 "Fuel system integrity"; and

          (8) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 302 "Flammability of interior materials."
