AN ACT Relating to bicycle safety; adding a new section to chapter 43.43 RCW; and making an appropriation.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 43.43 RCW to read as follows:

          A bicycle awareness program is created within the Washington state patrol.  The patrol shall conduct the program in conjunction with the safety education officer program.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.     The sum of two hundred fifty thousand dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for the biennium ending June 30, 1991, from the public safety education account to the Washington state patrol for the purposes of this act.
