AN ACT Relating to property insurance; and adding a new section to chapter 48.30 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 48.30 RCW to read as follows:

          An applicant for an initial or renewal policy for property insurance as defined in RCW 48.11.040 shall not be denied coverage or have his or her insurance rate influenced based on information in the applicant's credit report.

          A violation of this section shall constitute an unfair act or practice in violation of chapter 19.86 RCW.
