AN ACT Relating to charges for medical examinations under industrial insurance; and amending RCW 51.36.070.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

        Sec. 1.  Section 54, chapter 289, Laws of 1971 ex. sess. as amended by section 60, chapter 350, Laws of 1977 ex. sess. and RCW 51.36.070 are each amended to read as follows:

          Whenever the director or the self-insurer deems it necessary in order to resolve any medical issue, a worker shall submit to examination by a physician or physicians selected by the director or self-insurer, with the rendition of a report to the person ordering the examination.  ((The director, in his or her discretion, may charge))  The cost of such examination or examinations shall be charged to the self-insurer or to the medical aid fund as the case may be.  The cost of said examination shall include payment to the worker of reasonable expenses connected therewith.
