AN ACT Relating to vocational-technical institutes; and adding new sections to chapter 28B.50 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 28B.50 RCW to read as follows:

          Washington's vocational-technical institutions are a necessary part of the state's educational resources.  The vocational-technical and adult education programs conducted by the vocational-technical institutes provide opportunities for all state residents.  The legislature finds that the state has a vital interest in ensuring that vocational-technical institutions are accredited to ensure educational quality.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 28B.50 RCW to read as follows:

          All state vocational-technical institutes shall be accredited by the northwest association of schools and colleges or by an accrediting association recognized by the state board for community college education in order for credit hours, or their equivalencies, earned at a vocational-technical institute to be transferable to any community college.
