AN ACT Relating to inattentive driving; and amending RCW 46.61.445.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
Sec. 1. Section 46.48.025, chapter 12, Laws of 1961 and RCW 46.61.445 are each amended to read as follows:
Compliance
with speed requirements of this chapter under the circumstances hereinabove set
forth shall not relieve the operator of any vehicle from ((the further
exercise of due care and caution as further circumstances shall require)) driving
in an attentive manner. For purposes of this section, driving in an
inattentive manner includes, but is not limited to, applying cosmetics or
engaging in personal grooming, reading, and engaging in behavior that serves to
diminish the attention of the operator beyond that which is necessary for safe
operation of a vehicle.
