AN ACT Relating to unemployment compensation coverage of nurses practicing their profession as independent contractors; and adding a new section to chapter 50.04 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 50.04 RCW to read as follows:

          The term "employment" does not include services performed by an individual licensed under chapter 18.88 RCW who provides his or her nursing services as an independent contractor on a regular or periodic basis to one or more health care facilities, whether such services are contracted for directly or through a person, firm, or corporation referring the person for assignment to one or more health care facilities.
