Ventilation and flash guard. Flash welding machines must be equipped with a hood to control flying flash. In cases of high production, where materials may contain a film of oil and where toxic elements and metal fumes are given off, you must provide ventilation in accordance with WAC
296-24-71501 through
296-24-71525.
(2) Fire curtains. For the protection of the operators of nearby equipment, you must set up fire-resistant curtains or suitable shields around the machine and in such a manner that the operator's movements are not hampered.
(3) If the welding process cannot be isolated, you must properly protect all persons who may be exposed to the hazard of arc flash.
