(1) You must ensure that employees are protected against:
(a) Skin contact during the handling and application of chemical paint and preservative removers; and
(b) Eye injury by goggles or face shields that meet the requirements of WAC
296-304-09005 (1) and (2).
(2) When using flammable paint and preservative removers precautions must be taken in accordance with the requirements of WAC
296-304-03009.
(3) When using chemical paint and preservative removers which contain volatile and toxic solvents, such as benzol, acetone and amyl acetate, the provisions of WAC
296-304-03001 must be applicable.
(4) You must ensure that employees using paint and rust removers containing strong acids or alkalies are protected by suitable face shields to prevent chemical burns on the face and neck according to the requirements of WAC
296-304-09005 (1) and (2).
(5) You must ensure that all employees working within range of a steam gun blast are protected by suitable face shields according to the requirements of WAC
296-304-09005 (1) and (2). Metal parts of the steam gun itself must be insulated to protect the operator against heat burns.
