You must make sure staff conducting hearing protection audits:
(1) Can demonstrate competence in:
(a) Evaluating hearing protection attenuation;
(b) Evaluating hearing protector choices;
(c) Assessing the correct use of hearing protectors.
(2) Are certified by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) or have training in the following areas:
(a) Noise and hearing loss prevention;
(b) Washington state noise regulations;
(c) Hearing protectors;
(d) Fitting of hearing protectors;
(e) Basic noise measurement;
(f) Hearing loss prevention recordkeeping.
