(1) Companies transporting biomedical waste must comply with all federal, state and local laws and rules governing such transportation. Companies must also comply with Parts 171 through 180 of Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (49 C.F.R.), that are adopted by reference. Information about 49 C.F.R. regarding the version adopted and where to obtain copies is set out in WAC 480-70-999.

(2) Any company transporting waste, that meets either federal or state criteria as biomedical waste, must handle and transport that waste according to the appropriate requirements of the federal hazardous materials regulations and the additional requirements in these rules.
