NOTICE
Document Title: Provider Notice #13-119.
Subject: Revised patient eligibility verification instructions now available in medicaid provider guides (MPGs).
The medicaid program of the health care authority (HCA) is adding a new section to its MPGs to help you verify that a patient has Washington apple health coverage for a specific date of service and whether the client's benefit package covers that applicable service. Verifying a patient's eligibility will help prevent delivering a service the agency will not pay for.
The agency is also including information to help you assist patients who do not have Washington apple health coverage to apply for the expanded coverage under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act beginning January 1, 2014.
The new section in the MPGs is: How can I verify a patient's eligibility?
