Title or Subject: Medicaid State Plan Amendment 14-0022 Hospital Presumptive Eligibility (related to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA)).

Effective Date: January 1, 2014.

Description: The health care authority (the agency) intends to submit medicaid state plan amendment 14-0022 to implement hospital presumptive eligibility (PE) as authorized by the ACA. Under this provision, the ACA gives qualified hospitals the opportunity to immediately enroll patients who are likely eligible for medicaid under the state's eligibility guidelines, for a temporary period of time. Qualifying hospitals must be willing to comply with state policies and procedures for making PE determinations.

At this time, there is insufficient data to estimate the fiscal impact of implementing this program.
