WSR 17-24-016 PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH (Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery) [Filed November 27, 2017, 4:36 p.m.] Subject of Possible Rule Making: Chapter 246-853 WAC, Osteopathic physicians and surgeons, the board of osteopathic medicine and surgery (board) is considering rule amendments to several sections to ensure that the rules are current, up-to-date, and align with best practices. The board will also consider adding a new section describing the process for issuing expedited temporary practice permits for military spouses. Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 18.57.005, 18.130.050, and 18.340.020. Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: The board will consider chapter amendments and establishing a new section to comply with state laws and align with current best practices. RCW 43.70.041 requires the board to review its administrative rules every five years to ensure that regulations are current and relevant. The board completed this review at their July 21, 2017, business meeting and identified several sections of rule that may need updates and amendments. Also, RCW 18.340.020 requires health profession disciplining authorities to establish procedures to expedite temporary practice permits for military spouses.
