Effective Date of Rule: August 6, 2018.
Purpose: Amends Puget Sound closed areas for commercial salmon.
Citation of Rules Affected by this Order: Amending WAC 220-354-080.
Under RCW
34.05.350 the agency for good cause finds that immediate adoption, amendment, or repeal of a rule is necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, or general welfare, and that observing the time requirements of notice and opportunity to comment upon adoption of a permanent rule would be contrary to the public interest.
Reasons for this Finding: This emergency rule is needed to update terms to existing rules to clarify the fish area closed boundaries for Puget Sound Management and Catch Reporting Area 9A. The department is in the process of adopting permanent rules that are necessary to implement fishing plans agreed-to with resource comanagers.

WAC 220-354-08000APuget Sound salmon—Closed areas.
Notwithstanding the provisions of WAC 220-354-080, effective August 6, 2018, until further notice it is unlawful at any time, unless otherwise provided, to take, fish for, or possess salmon taken for commercial purposes with any type of gear from the following portions of Puget Sound Salmon Management and Catch Reporting Areas.
Area 9A – Closed in those waters north of a line projected from the southern edge of the old mill site (47°51'05"N, 122°34'59"W) to the fallen tree on the opposite shore (47°51'06"N, 122°34'16").
