WSR 19-05-073
PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
(Dental Quality Assurance Commission)
[Filed February 19, 2019, 2:19 p.m.]
Subject of Possible Rule Making: WAC 246-817-601, 246-817-610, 246-817-620 and 246-817-630, dental infection control. The dental quality assurance commission (commission) is considering rule amendments or repeals and creating new sections to update dental infection control practice standards.
Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 18.32.002 and 18.32.0365.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: The current rules are outdated, amendments or repeals and new sections may be necessary to ensure current infection control practice standards are being followed. Up-to-date infection control practice standards are necessary to prevent disease transmission in oral health care. The scope of the initial CR-101 filed on September 9, 2016, as WSR 16-19-021 was too narrow to pursue new sections related to additional dental infection control practice standards not listed in current rules.
Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: None.
Process for Developing New Rule: Collaborative rule making.
Interested parties can participate in the decision to adopt the new rule and formulation of the proposed rule before publication by contacting Jennifer Santiago, P.O. Box 47852, Olympia, WA 98504, phone 360-236-4893, fax 360-236-2901, TTY 360-833-6388 or 711, email jennifer.santiago@doh.wa.gov, web site www.doh.wa.gov.
