INTERPRETIVE STATEMENT
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
[Filed January 15, 2026, 9:37 a.m.]
This memo serves as notice that the department of health (department) is rescinding an interpretive statement on Sanitary Survey Fees for Public Water Systems, which was filed March 15, 2000, and published as WSR 00-07-081.
This interpretive statement clarified when the department would charge sanitary survey fees for public water systems with unfiltered surface water sources. The department is rescinding this statement due to the adopted rule changes to WAC 246-290-990 Water system evaluation and project review and approval fees. As a result of these rule changes, this interpretive statement is no longer necessary.
Individuals requiring additional information on this should contact Kay Rottell, deputy director for the office of drinking water, at Kay.Rottell@doh.wa.gov.
