Pursuant to RCW 34.05.230, the department of labor and industries' division of labor standards issued the following policy statement.

Title: Paid Sick Leave Frequently Asked Questions.
Amended: February 4, 2026.
Effective: February 4, 2026.
Description: The purpose of this administrative policy is to answer frequently asked questions regarding Washington's paid sick leave requirements. This policy was amended to:
Add instances of hate crimes to acceptable uses of leave under the Domestic Violence Leave Act.
Authorize the use of paid sick leave for employees and family members to attend or prepare for immigration proceedings.
Include protections from retaliation and immigration-related threats for using paid sick leave.
Reference separate paid sick time standards specific to the transportation network company industry.
