     On page 2, beginning on line 31, after "(e)" strike all material down to and including "act" on line 38 and insert "The term "law enforcement officer" also includes any person first employed after January 1, 1993, and before April 1, 1993, as a director of public safety, so long as the duties of the director involve only police or fire duties, or both, and no other duties"

EFFECT:  Allows only a Director of Public Safety hired after January 1 but before April 1, 1993, to be a LEOFF member, rather than any public safety officer or director.
