Background:  The Legislature created the Department of Community, Trade, and Economic Development in 1993.  One of the responsibilities of the new department is to focus assistance on targeted sectors of the economy.  The department was specifically directed to promote, market, and encourage growth in the production of films, videos, and television commercials in the state.

Summary of Bill:  The Department of Community, Trade, and Economic Development, through the State Film Office, is directed to assist in the location of a film and video production facility in the state.

Fiscal Note:  Available.

Appropriation:  $30,000 from the general fund to the Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.

Effective Date:  The bill takes effect July 1, 1994.
