SB 6060
As Reported By House Committee On:
Fisheries & Wildlife
Title: An act relating to correcting a double amendment related to commercial salmon fishing licenses and delivery licenses.
Brief Description: Correcting a double amendment related to commercial salmon fishing licenses and delivery licenses.
Sponsors: Senator Owen; by request of Law Revision Commission.
Brief History:
Reported by House Committee on:
Fisheries & Wildlife, February 22, 1994, DP.
HOUSE COMMITTEE ON FISHERIES & WILDLIFE
Majority Report: Do pass. Signed by 7 members: Representatives King, Chair; Fuhrman, Ranking Minority Member; Sehlin, Assistant Ranking Minority Member; Chappell; Foreman; Quall and Scott.
Staff: Keitlyn Watson (786-7310).
Background: In 1993, SB 5125 and SSB 5124 were both enacted, inconsistently amending the same section of law. SB 5125 deleted the landing requirements for maintaining a commercial salmon fishing license. SSB 5124 revised the entire commercial fishing code, making such changes as ensuring that licenses are issued to persons rather than vessels. The landing requirement for maintaining a commercial salmon fishing license was deleted from this bill as well.
Summary of Bill: RCW 75.30.120 is reenacted and amended to remove the double amendment from the 1993 legislative session. The amendment is exactly the same as SSB 5124.
Fiscal Note: Not requested.
Effective Date: The bill contains an emergency clause and takes effect immediately.
Testimony For: Bill removes an unmerged double amendment, and restores consistency with other sections of the RCW by re-enacting the provisions of SSB 5124.
Testimony Against: None.
Witnesses: Marjorie Rombauer, Washington Law Revision Commission (pro).
