BACKGROUND:
The Forest Practices Board is classified as a Class III group and is subject to compensation as provided in RCW 43.03.240. This compensation is $50 a day. Since the board was created in 1975, responsibilities and work load of the board have increased to meet the requirements of a Class IV group as defined in RCW 43.03.250. The compensation for a Class IV group is $100 a day.
RCW 43.03.250 sets standards for Class IV groups which apply to the Forest Practices Board: it is a part-time board, it has rule-making authority, and requires service of its members which will require a significant demand on their time in excess of 100 hours of meeting time per year.
