Requiring public relations firms hired by local governments to register as lobbyists.

    AN ACT Relating to public disclosure; and adding a new section to chapter 42.17 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 42.17 RCW to read as follows:

    A public relations firm hired by a local government for the purpose of promoting or opposing an issue, viewpoint, or electoral topic, where there is also an organized opposition to the issue, viewpoint, or electoral topic, shall register as lobbyists and are subject to the requirements of this chapter.
